On the field, Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya are known for their fearless cricket and fighting spirit. Off the field, however, the Pandya siblings depicted their vulnerable, sentimental side by lavishing love, respect, and monetary support on their childhood coach, Jitendra Singh, bringing him into their family fold.

Hardik and Krunal come from a very humble background. They grew up in extreme poverty in Vadodara, Gujarat, but their coach, Jitendra, never left their side. Now, the brothers are giving it back to their coach.

Jitendra Singh Reveals Receiving Financial Help From Hardik-Krunal

On the occasion of Teacher’s Day 2025, the story of their bond has gone viral. Despite achieving stardom in world cricket, the Pandya brothers have supported their mentor with financial help worth nearly ₹70-80 lakhs over the years.

According to Jitendra Singh, who spoke to TOI, Hardik Pandya and Krunal stepped up during some of the most important moments of his life. From funding his sisters’ weddings to helping during his mother’s illness, the Pandya brothers made sure their coach never struggled alone.

Their generosity did not stop there. Hardik even gifted his coach a car worth ₹5-6 lakhs after his India debut in 2016, despite not being financially strong himself at the time.

"Hardik and Krunal ensured that my first sister's wedding took place smoothly in 2018, stepping up with monetary assistance. Not only this, they also transferred Rs 20 lakhs for purchasing a car, along with other gifts, during my second sister's marriage in February 2024. Hardik said, 'Your sister is my sister. Just let me know whenever the wedding gets fixed'. After being informed about the date, he simply responded, 'Don't worry. Just ensure that all things go well', taking care of all the requirements," Singh said.

Krunal later also remitted money for the purchase of another car, while both the brothers frequently gifted Jitendra clothes, footwear, and other things.

The connection goes deeper than finances. When Jitendra's mother became gravely ill, Hardik merely requested, “Please take all my money and make sure she recovers.” Such acts, Jitendra feels, indicate the character of his old students.

Pandya Brothers’ Early Life Struggles

Hardik and Krunal Pandya’s rise to stardom came after years of struggle. Born into a modest family in Surat, their father shut down his small business and moved to Baroda so his sons could pursue cricket. Money was tight; they lived in a rented house, ate instant noodles and often couldn’t afford proper kits.

Training at Kiran More Academy was only possible after their fees were waived off. The brothers shared gear, rode on a second-hand scooter to practise, and relied on their father’s sacrifices.

Hardik even dropped out of school after Class 9 to focus on cricket. Today, their journey inspires millions.
