How Pakistan can qualify for finals [Source: AFP Photo]
As expected, India thrashed Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4 match by 6 wickets, almost sealing their place in the tournament's finals. Despite putting up a tricky total of 171/5, Pakistan were never really in the race to win the contest as Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill destroyed their bowling attack, and added 105 runs for the opening wicket.
The win has helped ease India’s path to the finale, but it has made Pakistan’s job trickier, as they are yet to face Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in their remaining two Super 4 matches. Here’s how the Salman Ali Agha-led side can still qualify for the finals after a heavy defeat against India.

Scenario 1: Pakistan win both games
The ideal scenario for Pakistan would be to simply win the remaining two games. If they manage to beat Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, the team will have 4 points and will qualify for the finals. In such a case, other results won’t matter, and things will be in Pakistan’s hands.
Scenario 2: Pakistan win one game and lose another
Assuming Pakistan win against Bangladesh, and then go on to lose against Sri Lanka (or vice-versa), then things won’t be in their hands. In such a case, they would only have two points in their kitty, and the net run-rate would come into play.
Assuming India win their remaining two matches, then it would be a three-way race for the finals between Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
Scenario 3: India lose both the games, Pakistan win both
If India somehow manages to lose the two games, and Pakistan beats both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, then they would eclipse India and reach the finals, and the Men in Blue will then scrap it out against the other two sides to reach the finale.
