Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa has put his name for the SA20 2024 auction.

Included in the list of 122 overseas players, Uthappa will go under the hammer in the auction for the second season of South Africa's premier T20 tournament, scheduled on September 27 in Johannesburg.

If Uthappa gets picked by any of the franchises, he will become the first cricketer from India to feature in the SA20.

The tournament was held in January-February in 2023 with the same window being chosen for the second edition. It clashed with the International League T20 this year where Uthappa played for the Dubai Capitals.

Uthappa's name being present in the pool of players that will be auctioned for SA20 2024 means that he is no longer bounded by the Dubai Capitals. The 37-year-old retired from international and Indian cricket in 2022 and was last seen playing in the US Masters T10 League.

Alongside Uthappa, Kane Richardson, Colin de Grandhomme, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Nawaz, and Angelo Mathews are a few other big names who have registered themselves for the auction.

Notably, in the recent draft, teams have already filled in their squads with several players. 15 auction picks still remain across all six franchises.

All sides are required to rope in a minimum of ten South African players, a maximum of seven international players, a rookie player, and a wildcard.
