Arshdeep Singh is set to mark his Test debut for India in the upcoming five-match series in England. A seasoned T20I campaigner and an IPL mainstay, the left-arm pacer earned his long-awaited call-up last month as Team India begins a red-ball reboot in the wake of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin’s retirements.

Roughly a couple of weeks prior to the series, Arshdeep reflected his mindset during an interview with the BCCI as he continues to train alongside his teammates in Kent.

Arshdeep Says Sudharsan, Shubman Looking In Good Form

Arshdeep Singh, currently in Kent for Test preparations, said that he finds the South Eastern English County the “best place” to find the “peace of mind”. Summing up the goal of the training session, the cricketer claimed that his main purpose is to get into a rhythm with the red-ball after a hectic IPL 2025 season in India.

While speaking with the BCCI and as quoted by the Times of India, Arshdeep Singh said:

“It’s a small place, very peaceful, not too crowded. The best place when you need peace of mind. The main goal of today's training was to get into a rhythm, to feel how the body is responding, and how the red ball is being released from the hand since all the players have been playing with the white ball for a while.”

Arshdeep Singh also said that players like Sai Sudharsan and newly-appointed captain Shubman Gill looked in good touch with the bat in the nets.

“It was enjoyable with the batters; they were quite compact. We had to work hard with a proper plan to try and get them out. Sai [Sudharsan] looked solid. The skipper was in good form. I’ll try to keep this banter going and aim to get them out many times.”

The 26-year-old further reflected his mindset, claiming that he always considers himself to be the “best” in the business whenever he is holding the ball. He added:

“Whenever I hold the ball, I feel like ‘I am the best.’ But everyone knows that when you’re in an attack with a player like Bumrah, there’s no room for comparison. The main focus is how we can improve each other’s game and benefit the team.”

Team India will face England in a five-match Test series from June 20 onwards later this month. The first Test will be hosted by Headingley in Leeds.
