With the group stages of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 done and dusted, the teams for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan have also been finalised.

As announced by ICC, the top seven teams from the World Cup 2023 will earn qualification spots, which excludes Pakistan, who were already entitled as hosts.

Top tour teams, India, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand gained their place in the eight-nation CT 2025 as the semi-finalists of the World Cup 2023. Pakistan, who finished fifth with eight points, were already ensured of a spot, leaving the battle for three more sides.

Afghanistan, who had a stellar World Cup 2023, with four wins, have achieved their first-ever Champions Trophy ticket.

England, who were languishing at the bottom spot, secured their place by finishing seventh in the table, after notching back-to-back wins.  The final spot went to Bangladesh, who thanks to a superior net run-rate went ahead of Sri Lanka and Netherlands, with all teams having four points.

India, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, England and Pakistan will be making their ninth appearance in the CT, while Bangladesh and Afghanistan will play their sixth and first, respectively.

The Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in an ODI format and will be held sometime between February and March 2025.

Pakistan, who are hosts are also the defending champions, having won the competition in the 2017 edition in England, where they overturned favourites India in the final.
