BCCI Unlikely To Send Team India To Pakistan For ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is unlikely to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy owing to prevailing political tensions between the two countries.

Earlier, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had awarded the hosting rights to Pakistan for the competition, which is set to make its return to the cricketing fold after a gap of eight years.

Another BCCI vs PCB on the cards, this time for ICC CT 2025

The BCCI has reportedly expressed its unwillingness in sending the Indian team to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy citing security concerns and prevailing political tensions between the two South Asian neighbors.

The PCB will likely retaliate with a strong stand against their Indian counterparts over the latter’s reluctancy as travelers for the tournament.

Earlier this year, another BCCI vs PCB duel broke out over the hosting rights of the 2023 Asia Cup. While Pakistan was slated to host the tournament in its full capacity, the Indian board refused in sending their team over bittering geo-political ties.

The PCB went on an aggressive path with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and even claimed that they will not be sending the Pakistan team to India for the subsequent 2023 World Cup. With India’s participation posing as a huge roadblock, PCB eventually surrendered to BCCI’s demands and the 2023 Asia Cup was organized with a hybrid model, with Team India playing all their matches in Sri Lanka.

Moreover, the Pakistan cricket team also ended up arriving to India for the 2023 World Cup.

As of now, the 2025 Champions Trophy is slated to take place in Pakistan where the tournament will take center-stage for the first time since its previous edition in 2017 in England.
