‘Doing amazing job as a wicketkeeper': Indian Fielding Coach Heaps Praise On KL Rahul

Making a comeback is not easy, and for KL Rahul, it has been extremely tough, playing the role of a middle-order batter and donning the keeper's glove in a high-pressure tournament like the ICC Cricket World Cup.

India, who won all their group matches, and finished as toppers, have found an amble keeper in Rahul, who has mirrored the role of head coach Rahul Dravid, who did the same during India's 2003 World Cup edition, exceeding in both departments.

Rahul, who shone with the bat against the Netherlands last evening at Bangalore, slamming a 64-ball 102, found high praise from India's fielding coach, T. Dilip for his wicketkeeping skills.

On Sunday, Rahul took two catches, which included a sharp catch off Virat Kohli's bowling down the leg side, dismissing Scott Edwards.

As quoted by India Today, Dilip expressed pleasure over Rahul's performance behind the wickets, who, despite all his injury concerns of late, has risen to the occasion.

Here's what T Dilip said

"He has been doing a truly amazing job as a wicketkeeper. Of course, when he came he came from a long injury layoff. That was something that we considered as a challenging factor. He has come up really well. He is someone who has been keeping wickets from a young age, but we identified a couple of factors and worked upon it and every wicketkeeper is different.

He is someone who will need a couple of sessions to adapt to the challenges. If we speak to him and if he believes he is that kind of a wicketkeeper. I am quite happy with the way he has been moving laterally and also for his height, the way he is taking low catches is outstanding."

Overall, in nine World Cup matches, the Lucknow Super Giants captain has claimed 12 catches and one solitary stumping, apart from several top-notch DRS calls.

Rahul will be in action when India takes on New Zealand in the semi-finals of the World Cup 2023 on November 15.
