Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah took a bold stand on social media against the barbaric rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata.

Jasprit Bumrah voiced outrage over Kolkata tragedy with a powerful post

On Thursday, Jasprit Bumrah took to Instagram to condemn the incident. He posted a story accompanied by a powerful message, "Don’t tell women to change their path – change the terrain. Every woman deserves better” which aptly captured the collective outcry over the incident.

Last week, Kolkata was the scene of a vile act at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where a resident doctor fell victim to a brutal assault while on night duty.

She was attacked and killed by several men during a break in the seminar hall. The discovery of her body in a blood-soaked condition by hospital authorities has ignited protests nationwide, calling for justice and heightened safety measures for women.

IND gear up for BAN challenge without Bumrah

Amidst this national uproar, the cricket world is also witnessing significant shifts. After an exhaustive season of white-ball cricket, the Indian team is gearing up for a return to Test cricket with a series against Bangladesh in September.

However, the team may be without its ace pacer, Bumrah, who is likely to be rested as part of a strategy to rejuvenate India's pace attack.

The focus is now on strengthening the squad with new talent, especially ahead of the crucial tour of Australia. Bumrah's rest period, strategically placed after he was sidelined for the Sri Lanka tour, highlights the team's long-term preparations for more challenging contests.
