The inevitable has happened and India have lost the Sydney Test in a one-sided fashion as ruthless Australia decimated a Jasprit-Bumrah less Indian attack to seal the series and capture the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in 10 years.

The Indian batters produced a disappointing showing as barring Yashasvi Jaiswal and to some extend Rishabh Pant, the others had a forgettable tour as Australia made light work of the Indian team after losing the first Test in Perth.

In Sydney, the Indian batters faltered as the hosts needed just 162 runs to win and they did that with utmost ease as the side won the contest by 6 wickets. With that, Australia have sealed their place in the WTC finals.

Can India still qualify for WTC final?

This is the end of the road for Rohit Sharma's Team India in the WTC finale race. They had to win the SCG Test to have any chance of qualifying, but with the loss, they have failed to reach the finals for the first time in the history of WTC.

Everything changed during the New Zealand home series. Team India were in the driving seat to reach the finals, but a 3-0 series whitewash complicated their chances, and a series defeat at the hands of Australia have ended their hopes.

South Africa-Australia to play finals at Lord's

The finale is set between Australia and South Africa at the Lord's stadium. Australia have reached back-to-back finals and this is the first time for the Proteas.

The Pat Cummins led side are the defending champions and will look to add yet another ICC title in their illustrious resume.
