Disney Star's massive $3 Billion massive deal with ICC came into effect from T20 World Cup 2024 held In USA and Caribbean, but the broadcaster seems to have suffered massive losses during the marquee event, and is now seeking compensation from ICC for the same.

According to Cricbuzz, the issue was discussed in the Annual Conference in Colombo in July, and though the deal does not boost of a refund clause, Star is garnering hope of making up for some losses if the board of apex cricket governing body does decide in their favour.

In the T20 World Cup, plenty of games were washed out due to rain and one of those was the India-Canada game which Star has pointed out specifically as the one that has hurt them the most.

Also, the timings of the matches in USA was a major issue, and the short semifinal between South Africa and Afghanistan where the latter was bowled out for just 56 also proved costly for Star.

The deal was signed in 2022 for a four-year period starting from T20 World Cup 2024, but Star had Zee TV alongside them initially. Zee backed out due to their fallout with Sony and that left Disney Star with an extra burden of managing the entire $3 Billion deal on its own.

Jay Shah Likely To Be Next ICC Chairman

The current secretary of BCCI, Jay Shah is most likely to take up the position of the ICC chairman according to various reports, and this contract with Disney Star will we one of the first issue he will have to tackle as the chief of the apex body.
