Gujarat Titans’ fast bowler Ishant Sharma has been fined 25% of his match fees and given one demerit point for breaking the IPL’s Code of Conduct. This happened during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday, April 6 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The veteran seamer has been charged for his poor disciplinary record. He was guilty of having committed an offence falling under Article 2.2.
"Ishant Sharma, Bowler, Gujarat Titans has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees and has also accumulated One Demerit Point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Sunday," a statement issued by the IPL website read.
The punishment was given because Ishant was found guilty of violating Article 2.2 of the IPL rulebook. This rule is about damaging cricket equipment or property on or around the field. It includes actions like kicking the stumps, breaking advertising boards, or damaging dressing room items, usually done in frustration or anger. According to the IPL, even swinging a bat recklessly and causing damage can be considered a violation of this rule.

Meanwhile, it was a rough day for Ishant Sharma on the field. He failed to take any wickets and gave away 53 runs in his 4 overs. Despite his poor performance, Shubman Gill’s GT managed to win the match by 7 wickets.
The match turned in GT’s favor thanks to a brilliant bowling performance by Mohammed Siraj, who took 4 wickets for just 17 runs, helping the team restrict Sunrisers Hyderabad to 152/8.
