Bangladesh's fast bowling coach Allan Donald is set to step down from his role after the team's final match in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup against Australia in Pune on Saturday, November 11.

Donald, who took on the position ahead of Bangladesh's 2022 tour of South Africa, made this decision known during a team meeting in Pune on Thursday, November 9, as reported by Cricbuzz. A top official from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed this development on the condition of anonymity.

"Yes, he (Donald) informed us that he will not carry on with us after this World Cup during the team meeting,"  disclosed the official on Thursday.

In a conversation with The Daily Star, Donald confirmed his departure, stating, "Yes, I'm done and going home!"

This decision follows Donald's recent remarks concerning Shakib Al Hasan and Bangladesh regarding the contentious Angelo Mathews 'timed-out dismissal' incident.

In an interview with CricBlog.net following Bangladesh's triumph over Sri Lanka in Delhi, Donald expressed disappointment with the dismissal, finding it really difficult to watch.

The BCB sought an explanation from Donald regarding his comments on Mathews' timed-out dismissal. The reaction from the BCB was expected, as public criticism of the team's decision by a member of the Bangladesh team management is generally discouraged.

Reportedly, Donald informed the board that he would not continue once his contract expires at the conclusion of the World Cup, aligning with his earlier statement.

This development concludes a brief yet impactful tenure for Donald, who assumed the role in March 2022 with the T20 World Cup as the primary target.

The BCB extended his contract due to the team's commendable progress in pace bowling, further solidifying Bangladesh's bowling stocks with robust reserve options. Donald's coaching methods are credited for the rise of talents like Ebadot Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmud, and Taskin Ahmed's notable comeback.
