DC Sign AFG All-Rounder Gulbadin Naib To Replace Mitchell Marsh For Remainder Of IPL 2024

In a strategic decision, Delhi Capitals have signed Afghanistan's seasoned all-rounder Gulbadin Naib as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh, who got ruled out for the IPL 2024 season with a hamstring injury.

Delhi Capitals have struggled with their playing XI combination this year mainly due to the unavailability of star players. 

After Harry Brook and Lungi Ngidi opted out, DC lost star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh to a hamstring injury earlier this month. 

Marsh's niggle was initially believed to be a minor one before mentor Ricky Ponting formally ruled him out for the remainder of the tournament as the all-rounder flew back to Australia on April 12.

With playoff hopes hanging by a thread, Delhi Capitals signed Afghanistan veteran all-rounder Gulbadin Naib as an immediate replacement for Mitchell Marsh. 

Naib, known for his hard-hitting prowess and useful medium-pace bowling, is a regular face in the Afghanistan cricket team.

Gulbadin Naib has scored 802 runs in 64 T20I with a decent strike rate of 127.3. He also picked up 26 wickets with 8.2 economy in national colours. Naib is versatile and can open up and play aggressively in the middle order. 

Naib is an excellent addition for DC, as they are desperate to stay alive in the playoff race. While Marsh is undoubtedly a talented cricketer, Gulbadin is equally threatening when in form.

Having said that, with eight points in nine games, Delhi Capitals must win all the remaining games left on the schedule to advance to the next stage without relying on other results.
