In 2010, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), led by the enigmatic MS Dhoni, etched their name in Indian Premier League (IPL) history by clinching their maiden IPL title in a thrilling final against the Mumbai Indians (MI).

On April 25th, 2010, two of the biggest formidable forces of IPL, Mumbai Indians clashed with Chennai Super Kings at DY Patil Stadium for the epic finals of the tournament.

A young MS Dhoni who led India to T20 World Cup title win in 2007, boldly decided to bat first, and Suresh Raina's match-winning 57*runs off 35 deliveries drove CSK to a 168 runs total.

The target seemed decent for an in-form MI team led by Sachin Tendulkar. However, CSK kept Sachin quiet with tight bowling, as he could only score 48 runs off as many as 45 deliveries.

Harbhajan Singh's promotion to the middle order also backfired as MI were reduced to 100/5 inside 15 overs.

While Kieron Pollard fought back with a fiery 27-run inning at no.8, it wasn't enough as MI fell short of 22 runs to award CSK its maiden IPL trophy.

The DY Patil Stadium erupted in celebration as CSK players and fans alike rejoiced in their maiden IPL triumph. Dhoni's calm demeanour and leadership on the field were lauded as he led from the front to deliver the title for his team.

The victory marked the beginning of a successful era for CSK in the IPL, establishing them as one of the most dominant teams in the tournament. It was a moment of glory for the franchise as they savoured the sweet taste of victory in the 2010 IPL final against MI.
