In the latest development, young Indian pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Nagarkoti, who has previously represented the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, has sustained a back injury, as per the latest update from the Delhi Capitals camp.

On Sunday evening, the DC Twitter handle revealed that Nagarkoti will miss the remaining season, and will be replaced by former Indian U19 World Cup skipper and former SunRisers Hyderabad player, Priyam Garg.

Here's what Delhi Capitals tweeted:

"Kamlesh Nagarkoti will miss the remainder of #IPL2023 with a back injury. Priyam Garg will join the camp for the remainder of the season.

"We wish you a smooth recovery, Kamlesh!''

Nagarkoti was picked up by the Capitals following a massive bidding war with KKR at the mega auction in 2022. He was eventually acquired by DC for a whopping INR 1.10 Crores.

However, the 2018 U19 World Cup-winning seamer featured in just 1 game last season, and was yet to make his presence this year before an unfortunate back injury came calling.

His replacement, Priyam Garg, was a part of the SunRisers Hyderabad outfit between 2020-22, before he was finally released by the Orange Army.

Garg went unsold at the recent auction, and has now been signed by DC at his base price of INR 20 Lakhs.

Delhi are currently languishing at the bottom of the pile after having managed just 1 win in 6 outings. The David Warner-led unit will next lock horns with the SunRisers Hyderabad on April 24.
