Punjab Kings' stand-in skipper Sam Curran was brutally honest at the post-match presentation following a thrilling win over the Mumbai Indians as he sold himself short, stating that he didn't deserve to win the 'Player of the Match' award.

Curran did not have a night to remember with the ball as he was carted around for 41 runs in 3 overs, it was because his stunning onslaught with the bat- 55 off 29 deliveries with 5 fours and 4 sixes- PBKS were in the position to afford it.

Curran, along with Harpreet Singh and Jitesh Sharma unleashed a stunning assault on MI bowlers in the last 5 overs of Punjab's innings, smoking as many as 96 runs to set up what the Englishman described as a "pretty special" win on an 'amazing ground'.

While Suryakumar Yadav, Cameron Green, and later, Tim David kept MI in the game, Sam's trusted lieutenant Arshdeep Singh closed off the proceedings with imperious death bowling as he broke the middle-stump on consecutive deliveries to finish with figures of 4/29 in 4 overs.

Curran also said that the absence of regular skipper and the leader of their batting group, Shikhar Dhawan, has encouraged other players to take more responsibility, and that has allowed the team to come together.

Here's what Sam Curran said:

"Pretty special. What an amazing ground. The environment is incredible here. It (the win) is a massive positive for us. I don't think I should be getting the Man of the Match considering how the boys closed the game out there. Without Shikhar, we know we had to take that responsibility. Our group is coming together really well. Shikhar will be fit soon. We won 4 out of the 7 games and it is not a bad place to be. Have got great support from the management and the local guys. The boys are enjoying themselves, and it is still a long way to go and the important thing is enjoy the game and don't put too much pressure on ourselves."

The 13-run defeat on home soil broke MI's three-match unbeaten streak, while PBKS have now claimed the 5th spot with 4 wins after 7 games. They will next face the Lucknow SuperGiants in Mohali on April 28.
