Australia legend David Warner has made headlines by registering for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 draft. This announcement comes on the heels of his surprising snub at the IPL 2025 auction, where the veteran batsman went unsold. Warner’s decision to join the PSL draft follows a similar move by New Zealand’s experienced pacer Tim Southee, adding more international star power to the upcoming season.
The Pakistan Super League officially confirmed Warner’s participation with a post on X (formerly Twitter):
"ENDING 2024 ON A HIGH. The Aussie powerhouse David Warner has registered for the #HBLPSLDraft!"
The 10th edition of the PSL is set to captivate fans with its picturesque venue in Gwadar, located in Pakistan’s Balochistan district. Scheduled to begin on April 8, 2025, and conclude on May 19, the tournament will kick off with its draft on January 11.
Warner’s decision to focus on franchise cricket comes after his retirement from international cricket following Australia’s exit in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. Despite his team’s early departure, Warner left a mark with 178 runs in seven matches, including two half-centuries. Having stepped away from the international arena, Warner has shifted his attention entirely to global T20 leagues, where his aggressive batting style remains a sought-after commodity.
David Warner's Illustrious Career
Throughout his illustrious international career, Warner played 112 Test matches, 161 ODIs, and 110 T20Is. He was instrumental in some of Australia’s greatest triumphs, including their 2015 and 2023 ODI World Cup wins, the 2023 World Test Championship win, and the team’s first T20 World Cup triumph in 2021.
His explosive batting style, coupled with his ability to perform under pressure, has earned him a lasting legacy in the world of cricket.
