Arjun Tendulkar has once again been dropped from the Goa cricket team. After making a comeback to the List A squad following his exclusion from the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Arjun's performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy has been a mixed bag.
In the tournament's opening match, Arjun Tendulkar picked up 3 wickets against Odisha but gave away 61 runs in a high-scoring game. He went wicketless in the next match against Haryana, who comfortably chased down the target of 272, and Arjun only managed to score 14 runs. However, in the third game against Manipur, Arjun scored 26 runs and took 1 wicket, helping Goa secure a dominant 171-run victory.
Despite these efforts, Arjun was left out of the squad for their ongoing match against Uttarakhand. With two wins from three matches, Goa is in a strong position to advance to the second round, but it remains to be seen if Arjun will be called back if Goa qualifies.
Arjun Impresses with 5-Wicket Haul Against Tamil Nadu
Arjun, a left-arm pacer, had earlier made headlines for his impressive performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he took his first List A five-wicket haul against Tamil Nadu, showing his potential as a promising all-rounder. With 52 wickets in 42 white-ball games, including 25 wickets in 18 List A matches, Arjun has demonstrated his skills both as a bowler and a batsman.
After playing for Mumbai in his early career, Arjun moved to Goa in the 2022/23 season and has made his mark in First-Class and List A cricket. In red-ball cricket, he has scored over 500 runs, including a century, and taken 37 wickets. He has also featured in 17 List A games for Goa.
Looking ahead, Arjun is expected to return to action for the Ranji Trophy plate final against Nagaland, scheduled for January 23-27, after taking a five-wicket haul in his previous Ranji appearance.
