India's swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has had an underwhelming Border-Gavaskar Trophy campaign. Pant, who played a pivotal role in India's historic triumph in Down Under back on the 2020-21 tour, hasn't been able to pull off similar knocks in this series.

Although he has got some good starts, the batter has yet to convert them into a significant score, with Australian skipper Pat Cummins emerging as his nemesis with his razor-sharp bowling.

Now, with Pant not fulfilling his potential, several reports have claimed that the explosive batter could be shown the exit door before the decider in Sydney. A reputed Indian journalist has claimed that the team management is not pleased with Rishabh Pant's repeated failures, particularly criticising his knack for gifting his wicket with poor shot selection.

As shown in the above video, the journalist has claimed that Pant could be dropped for the SCG Test, with Dhruv Jurel replacing him in India's playing XI. Jurel was impressive for India A, slamming consecutive fifties on challenging surfaces in the unofficial Test against Australia A ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Should Rishabh Pant Be Dropped For SCG Test?

Renowned for his scintillating stroke play, Pant has managed 154 runs at an average of 22 in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, despite failing in the current series, Pant is regarded as one of India's biggest match-winners in the purest format.

Interestingly, he has breached the 20-run mark five out of seven times in the series. It signifies that he has got promising starts and only needs to improve his conversion rate. Furthermore, he has been a valuable asset for the team in Tests and considering his match-winning ability, India should think twice before dropping him for the SCG Test.
