Sunrisers Eastern Cape opener David Bedingham postponed his marriage by a day after the franchise reached the final of the SA20 2025 season. On Saturday, February 8, the cricketer took field at the iconic Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg alongside his teammates to go up against MI Cape Town.

Prior to the high-octane final, a South African cricket correspondent stated that the wedding was already ‘booked and planned’ for the day before the Proteas star had to change his plans to comply with the team’s title defense pursuit.

David Bedingham was due to get married on Saturday, February 8, i.e., on the day of the SA20 2025 final. However, the cricketer was forced to shift his wedding by a day after the franchise reached the finals against MI Cape Town.

David Bedingham has emerged as one of the driving forces behind Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s success in SA20 2025 season. In his first 12 matches of the tournament, all before the final, the 30-year-old scored 236 runs in 11 innings at an average of 21.45. Ranked only second behind captain Aiden Markram in terms of Sunrisers’ leading run-getters of the season, Bedingham is holding a strike rate of nearly 123.

In the final, the MI Cape Town franchise, under the leadership of Rashid Khan, won the toss and opted to bat first. Despite racing to 51 runs within the first five overs of the innings, the Cape Town were pegged back courtesy of three quick wickets shared by Craig Overton, Richard Gleeson and Liam Dawson.
