Australia has finally gathered their complete squad in Barbados just in time for the start of the T20 World Cup. In the first game of T20 World Cup Australia will face Oman on June 5th.

Key players like Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, and Mitchell Starc returned to Australia after the conclusion of the IPL 2024. Due to these travel challenges, Australia had to play their warm-up match with only nine players, resorting to having their coaches step in to field.

Chief selector George Bailey, head coach Andrew McDonald, fielding coach Andre Borovec, and batting coach Brad Hodge were the team staff members who had to step in and field for Australia.

Travel woes of Aussie players

As reported by cricket.com.au, Australian Test captain Pat Cummins spent two days traveling from Sydney to the Caribbean Islands. During the journey, some of Cummins' luggage was lost. However, it was later reported that he successfully recovered the lost items.

Starc and Maxwell came back to Australia from the IPL. Starc had played in the IPL final and won the title for KKR. Whereas Glenn Maxwell's RCB played the eliminator. The duo had to spend a night in Los Angeles and another night in Miami before reaching Barbados.

However, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh remained unfazed by players missing warm-up games and practice sessions for various reasons. Marsh believes the players will perform at their peak when it truly counts.

Australia is currently the champion of the ODI World Cup and World Test Championship. If Australia could also win the T20 World Cup, it would be an incredible treble achievement.
