The recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India has already breached several records pertaining to players and broadcast. Now, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed that the World Cup in India has become the most-attended ICC event ever.

As stated by ICC, a total of 1,250,307 attended the World Cup in India, surpassing the record set during ICC World Cup 2015, where 1,016,420 fans visited stadiums across Australia and New Zealand.

New Record in World Cup 2023

Interestingly, the total attendance hit the one-millionth mark during a group-stage encounter between South Africa and Afghanistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium on November 10.

The final between India and Australia in Ahmedabad was attended by 92, 453 fans, which is slightly less than the crowd during the 2015 final between Australia and New Zealand, where 93,013 people were seated at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The 2019 Edition in England and Wales remains the third most-attended World Cup with 7,52,000 watching the live matches in stadiums across the tournament.

The final between India and Australia turned out to be a one-sided affair as Pat Cummins and Co. outplayed and outclassed the hosts across all departments in their six-wicket win.

A total of current 5.9 crore people tuned onto Disney+Hotstar during the final encounter on Sunday, setting new viewership record, breaking the previous record set during India's group semi-final clash against New Zealand at Wankhede, which had a concurrent of 5.2 crore.
