The biggest battle of the Test format is on the way as the cricket world is gearing up for the high-voltage WTC final. The iconic Lord's Cricket Ground is set to host the big clash.

As South Africa is set to cross swords with the defending champions, Australia, the ICC has revealed the star-studded match official list, as two ace umpires are ready to oversee this high-voltage clash.

ICC Announces Match Officials For WTC Final

After two years of some unmissable red ball actions, the cricket world is all excited to see the high-voltage WTC final clash between South Africa and Australia.

The Aussies, eyeing consecutive titles, return for their second straight final, while South Africa makes a historic first appearance on the grand stage. The ICC has officially announced the elite panel of match officials for this much-anticipated clash.

As the big match commences on June 11, English umpire Richard Illingworth and Kiwi umpire Chris Gaffaney have been named as the on-field umpires. Illingworth, recently crowned ICC Umpire of the Year, is set to make history by officiating his third consecutive WTC final.

On the other hand, Chris Gaffaney brings big-match experience to the table, having officiated the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Final and the previous WTC final between India and Australia. Now he will be seen accompanying Illingworth in the WTC final 2025 between South Africa and Australia.

Kettleborough And Nitin Menon Also To Take Responsibility

Along with the on-field umpires, English umpire Richard Kettleborough will be serving as the TV umpire. Before that, he had officiated Champions Trophy. Even in the WTC 2021 final between India and New Zealand, he served as the third umpire.

Adding to that, Indian umpire Nitin Menon will be making his debut on the big stage World Test Championship final. After serving as the TV umpire in the 2021 T20 World Cup, Menon now steps onto the biggest red-ball stage, marking a significant milestone in his officiating career. Javagal Srinath will serve as the match referee.
