The Champions Trophy 2025 mystery just continues to pile on, as the meeting between ICC and member countries has been postponed again. The meeting was initially scheduled to be held on Friday, November 29, but it was postponed to Saturday, and now Geo News from Pakistan has revealed that the meeting has been postponed again.
According to their report, PCB is still not backing away from its stance to host the whole tournament in Pakistan. It has created an uncomfortable situation for ICC, and BCCI has asked for some more time with Pakistan not ready to change its approach. The Geo News report stated that the meeting will be held in next 48 hours.
Earlier, the reports also stated that all seven teams has supported BCCI on their hybrid model stand and Pakistan is left alone. According to the hybrid model, India might play its matches in UAE while the one semifinal and the final of the tournament might also be pushed out of Pakistan. The similar model was followed during the Asia Cup 2023, but PCB does not seem ready to compromise this time.
ICC might provide PCB with financial incentives to make up for their loss due to hybrid model. The Pakistan board has invested heavily on upgrading its cricket infrastructure for the tournament, but if they do not agree to the hybrid model, they might end up losing the hosting rights altogether.
PCB chairman has also recently mentioned that if India do not travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy, they would also not sent their team to the neighbouring country for any multi-nation event. The Pakistan cricket team last travelled to India for 2023 World Cup while India's last visit to the Men In Green's den was for Asia Cup 2008.
