India and Pakistan games always tend to create buzz around cricket fans around the world, and whether it is a men's game or women's match or a junior-level encounter, the excitement is always quite high. Currently, India and Pakistan are up against each other in the U19 Asia Cup being played in the 50-over format. So, as the games unfolds, let's see what happened when the two teams met each other in the same format last time around.
It was the Asia Cup encounter in December 2023 and the game was played in Dubai. It was the fifth match of the Group A encounter and the Indian team led by Uday Saharan at that time scored 259 while batting first. Uday Saharan himself scored a fifty coming in at number four while Adarsh Singh and Sachin Das also notched up fifties even though rest of the batters struggled against disciplined bowling by Pakistan.
Pakistan U19 Pull Off Clinical Chase
Mohammad Zeeshan was the pick of the bowlers for the 'Boys in Green' as he picked four wickets in his 10 overs while giving away just 46 runs. It was expected to be a close game, but Pakistan batters dispalyed great composure and crafted a clinical chase. Murugan Abhishek got the wicket of Shamyl Hussain early, but the other opener, Shahzaib Khan and the number three batter Azan Awais stitched a fine stand of 110 runs to put Pakistan back on track. Shahzaib Khan departed for 63 as Abhishek found another breakthrough for India.
However, India could not find any success after that as Pakistan captain Saad Baig delivered a counter-attacking punch and Azan Awais notched up a century to take Pakistan over the line in 47 overs. They won the game by eight wickets and it was quite a strong statement from the Pakistan U19 team against a more fancied Indian U19 unit.
