Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the 13-year-old cricketer from Bihar, has made history by becoming the youngest player to be picked in the IPL 2025. He has been bought by the Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.10 crore at the IPL mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. However, his rise to fame has been accompanied by heated discussions and debates, particularly concerning his age.

Vaibhav's remarkable record-breaking century for India U-19 against Australia U-19 in Chennai made headlines even before the IPL auction. At 13 years and 288 days, he became the youngest batter to score an international century, surpassing the previous record held by Najmul Hossain Shanto.

However, just as Vaibhav Suryavanshi's rise was being celebrated, fans and followers raised questions about his true age. The main controversy revolves around suspicions that Vaibhav might actually be 15 years old, and not 13 as officially stated. This raised the question of whether age manipulation has taken place.

In a recent interview, he also claimed that 'Brian Lara is my idol', to which fans again took a dig and stated that as he is just 13 years old and has never seen Brian Lara play live, how can he say his idol is Lara? His statement prompted fans to take to social media and voice their concerns, with some accusing Vaibhav of age fraud.
