On Wednesday, India will kickstart their Asia Cup 2025 campaign with a cracking encounter against the United Arab Emirates. Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India are placed in group-A and will take on Oman and Pakistan in their subsequent matches.
Interestingly, there are several India-born cricketers who will be up against their country of birth in the Asia Cup. As India gear up for the marquee event, here are five prominent India-born players who will represent the UAE and Oman against their country of origin.
Simranjeet Singh - UAE (Birth Place: Punjab)
Born in Punjab, Simranjeet Singh grabbed the limelight when he opened up on his encounter with a young Shubman Gill in a net session at PCA Stadium in Mohali. The veteran cricketer had travelled to Dubai for 20-odd days; however, he was unfortunately stuck in the Gulf Nation due to the second wave of COVID-19.
Eventually, Simranjeet became a permanent resident of the UAE, representing their cricket team as a potent spin bowler. Overall, he has featured in 17 international games, including five ODIs and twelve T20Is, scalping 25 wickets across formats.

Young spin-bowling all-rounder Dhruv Parashar was born in Pune, Maharashtra, on December 20, 2004. He migrated to the United Arab Emirates with his parents when he was only four years old and has represented the Gulf Nation in his brief cricketing career.
Statistically, Parashar, hailed for his all-round prowess, has been more successful as a bowler in the shortest format. He has scalped 25 wickets in 22 outings while averaging just over 14 with the bat in T20Is.
Aryansh Sharma - UAE (Birth Place: Ghaziabad, UP)
A promising batting talent, Aryansh Sharma was born in Ghaziabad, a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Just like Dhruv Parashar, Aryansh shifted his base to the UAE with his family aged two.
Talking about his cricketing journey, Sharma has showcased glimpses of his potential for the UAE. In 15 innings, he has slammed 365 runs at an average of 26.07 and a strike rate of 111.28. He plays as a wicketkeeper and is one of the players to watch out from the UAE in the Asia Cup.
