New Zealand routed Pakistan in the second ODI to seal their three-match series with a game to spare. In Bengaluru, hosts RCB crumbled in front of a Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans unit in match 14 of the IPL 2025 season. In other news, Yashasvi Jaiswal has decided to shift his domestic base from Mumbai to Goa.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Wednesday, April 2.

Buttler Belts 73*, Siraj Takes Three As Titans Crash RCB

RCB’s unbeaten juggernaut in IPL 2025 came to a halt in match 14 of the competition at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Batting first against the Gujarat Titans, RCB hauled 169-8 from 20 overs after slipping to 35-3 at one stage of the match. Liam Livingstone top-scored with a cracking 40-ball 54, while Tim David unleashed 32 quick runs from 18 balls in the slog overs.

For the Titans, Mohammed Siraj picked up 3-19 from four overs and spinner Sai Kishore snared figures of 2-22. In the run-chase, opening batter Sai Sudharsan made 49 off 36 at the top of the order before Jos Buttler belted an unbeaten 73* from just 39 balls. Sherfane Rutherford also clubbed a swift 18-ball 30* as the Gujarat Titans romped to an eight-wicket win in just 17.5 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar Equals Bravo For Huge IPL Record

RCB fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up a wicket against Gujarat Titans in match number 14 of the IPL 2025 season. Through the course of his tight spell, the speedster equaled Dwayne Bravo to become the joint-most successful fast bowler in the history of the IPL, in terms of number of wickets. Kumar has taken 183 wickets from 178 innings so far in his career, levelling up with the former cricketer.

In terms of overall IPL record, spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Piyush Chawla continue to occupy the top two positions on the bowling ladder for picking up 206 and 192 wickets respectively.

Mitchell Hay, Sears And Duffy Empower New Zealand’s Series Win

New Zealand demolished Pakistan by 84 runs at Hamilton’s Seddon Park in the second ODI to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The hosts batted first and amassed 292-8 courtesy of Mitchell Hay’s blistering 78-ball 99*. The wicketkeeper-batter launched seven huge sixes in his innings to lift his team from a precarious 132-5.

In response, New Zealand fast bowlers wrecked Pakistan’s top-order to 32-5 with the early dismissals of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and others. Faheem Ashraf scored a counterattacking 73, while fast bowler Naseem Shah smeared his maiden ODI fifty (51 off 44). However, Ashraf and Shah’s efforts merely reduced Pakistan’s defeat margin as the ‘Men in Green’ were shot out for 208 in 41.2 overs by Jacob Duffy (3-35) and Ben Sears (5-59).

Yashasvi Jaiswal To Switch From Mumbai To Goa

Mumbai’s batting prodigy and Indian Test opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the MCA to relocate his domestic cricket base to Goa going forward. As per an Indian Express report, the cricketer is considering a change owing to personal reasons.

Another report indicates that Goa Cricket Association has offered Jaiswal a position of captaincy in domestic cricket.
