Pakistan’s struggle on the global stage is still on. After facing a defeat in the T20I series, the Men in Green failed to secure the momentum as the ongoing ODI series has also slipped away from them.

In the second ODI match, Mohammad Rizwan and Co. faced an 84-run defeat against the Kiwis. Pakistan’s batting lineup collapsed under the Kiwis’ dominance. After the heavy loss, Rizwan acknowledged their shortcomings, reflecting on what went wrong.

Rizwan Breaks Silence On Crushing Defeat

After the heavy defeat in the 1st ODI match, Rizwan and Co. failed to bounce back in the second game. After restricting the Kiwis to 292 runs, their batting faltered again. Except for Faheem Ashraf’s resistance and Naseem Shah’s brief support, no one made an impact. The Kiwis capitalized, sealing a dominant win.. After that, Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan reflected on that.

“It is sore, but it’s part of the game. We didn’t do well today. We didn’t utilize the swing effectively, and New Zealand bowled very well. Later on, Faheem and Naseem fought well for us. These are challenging conditions, but we can’t make excuses. We are professional cricketers, and we need to do something different.” Rizwan said.

Rizwan Applauds Kiwi Bowling Brilliance

New Zealand’s bowlers stole the show in the second ODI. While defending the total, Ben Sears and Jacob Duffy shattered the entire Pakistani lineup. Sears shone with an outstanding 5-wicket haul, and Duffy secured 3 crucial wickets. Their relentless attack left Pakistan reeling, leading to a crushing defeat. After the hefty defeat, mohammad Rizwan hailed New Zealand’s bowling dominance.

“The bowlers of New Zealand were very disciplined; they bowled the hard lengths. In the last couple of months, we’ve lost key moments. Today, we didn’t perform well with the ball or the bat in the first 10 overs. Credit to Mitch Hay as well; the way he batted was amazing,” he said.

After wrapping up the second match, both sides will lock horns will lock horns at the Bay Oval in the third ODI clash. Ahead of the showdown, Mohammad Rizwan is focused on adapting to the conditions, hoping to turn the tide in Pakistan’s favor.

“We don’t know much about the pitch in Tauranga, but we’ll have to adapt,” he said.

The ongoing ODI series has already slipped away from their hands. As both teams are set to lock horns in the 3rd ODI on April 5, the Men in Green will try hard to end the series with a victory.
