Jasprit Bumrah, who missed out on the fourth Test match against England in Ranchi, will be back in action as India’s vice-captain when the Rohit Sharma-led side will play Ben Stokes and Co. on March 7 for the final encounter in Dharamsala.

On the other hand, KL Rahul, who has been troubling by injuries lately, will remain unavailable for the fifth Test as well.

"Mr. KL Rahul, whose participation in the final IDFC First Bank Test was subject to fitness, has been ruled out of the fifth and final Test in Dharamsala. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring him and coordinating with specialists in London for further management of his issue," a BCCI statement read.

On the other hand, Rajat Patidar, who is having a horrible debut series at home against England, has kept his place in the squad. Alongside him, Sarfaraz Khan and Devdutt Padikkal have been retained as India’s middle-order options.

The star Rajasthan Royals duo, Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal, have made the cut as well, whereas KS Bharat, who was initially thought to be the primary wicket-keeper, has been listed as Jurel’s back-up.

India’s quartet of spinners – R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav – have kept their places, meaning there is no surprise move by the Rahul Dravid-led think tank even though they have won the series with a game to spare.

On another significant move, the BCCI released Washington Sundar to help him participate in the Ranji Trophy 2024, where Tamil Nadu will play the semi-final against Mumbai.

However, keeping Dharamsala’s pacer-friendly track in mind, India have picked Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, and Mukesh Kumar alongside Bumrah. Therefore, don’t be surprised if they go with three fast bowlers in Dharamsala, something we don’t often see at home in red-ball cricket.
