The Indian Express, a popular news publication, released a list of its ‘Top 100 Most Influential Indians of 2024’ on February 29. While the elite compilation encompasses a number of Indian personalities across political, business and entertainment spectrum, several sportspersons, including cricketers also managed to make a cut into the roster.

As one can expect, star attractions Virat Kohli and current Indian captain Rohit Sharma were among the most influential cricketers on the list alongside former skipper and all-time CSK great MS Dhoni. 

Moreover, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah was placed as high as number 35 on the top 100 charts, finding himself above the three leading Indian cricketing legends.


Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni among ‘100 Influential Indians’

Indian batting heavyweight Virat Kohli was ranked 38 on Indian Express ‘Top 100 Most Influential Indians’ of the year 2024. Being the highest ranking cricketer on the list, he was followed by former Indian captain and legendary wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni at number 58.

Current Team India captain Rohit Sharma also managed a make a cut into the top 100 charts at number 68.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah, meanwhile, found himself ranked as high as number 35 on the list to become India’s highest-ranking cricketing personality (player or administrator).

Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni will soon be seen representing their respective franchises at the forthcoming IPL 2024 season.

Virat Kohli, who opted himself out of India’s ongoing five-match Test series against England at home citing personal reasons, might also make his return to competitive cricket through the much-awaited T20 tournament.
