Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out of the rest of the West Indies tour due to a hamstring injury. The left-hander picked up the injury during the second T20I in Lauderhill, Florida, and will now miss the third T20I and the entire ODI series in Trinidad.

The incident happened in the 19th over of West Indies' innings when Fakhar was sprinting in the outfield to stop a boundary. He suddenly pulled up and appeared to be in visible pain. Medical staff rushed in, and after a quick assessment, it was confirmed he had a mild strain in his left hamstring.

Fakhar Zaman To Fly Back To Pakistan For Treatment

According to ESPN Cricinfo, Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out of the remainder of the series against the West Indies with a hamstring injury. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly said that Fakhar will return home on August 4, right after the third T20I.

He will likely begin his rehabilitation under the supervision of the PCB medical team at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. So far, no replacement has been named for the ODI squad.

Fakhar, 35, had scores of 28 and 20 in the first two T20Is. While he looked in good touch, he couldn’t convert those starts into big scores.

This isn’t the first time Fakhar has suffered a similar injury. In the Champions Trophy earlier this year, he pulled up chasing a ball and was ruled out of the tournament the very next day. Ironically, he had been brought into that squad as a replacement for Saim Ayub, who himself had been injured in a similar way weeks earlier.

Pakistan Seal T20I Series Vs West Indies In Fakhar’s Absence

Despite Fakhar Zaman's injury, Pakistan managed to outclass the West Indies in the 3rd T20I to win the series 2-1. Batting first, openers Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub stitched a 138-run partnership. Their half-centuries set the tone as Pakistan finished with 189/4.

During the chase, the West Indies succumbed to pressure despite Alick Athanaze’s 60 off 40 and Sherfane Rutherford’s 51 off 35. Windies fell short by 13 runs to hand Pakistan a series victory in Florida.
