The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that experienced fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jr has resumed training after recovering from a side strain injury. The development comes as huge relief for Pakistan ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 tournament.

Mohammad Wasim Jr Regains Full Fitness Ahead Of Asia Cup

It's worth mentioning that ace Pakistani speedster Mohammad Wasim Jr sustained a side strain during this year's Pakistan Super League (PSL) season. The unfortunate injury setback sidelined him from Pakistan's recent T20I series against Bangladesh and West Indies.

However, the fast bowler has started training at Lahore's National Cricket Academy after recovering from the injury. As reported by Cricket Pakistan, Wasim Jr has worked on his bowling action, as advised by specialists, to prevent himself from similar injuries in future.

Mohammad Wasim Jr's White-Ball Career So Far

In his brief international career, Mohammad Wasim Jr has played 29 T20 Internationals, scalping 36 wickets at an average of 20.9 and a strike rate of 15.4. He is hailed for his ability to make the ball talk at a searing pace. He has also had a decent ODI career, bagging 36 wickets in 22 matches at an average of 27.2.

Why Is Wasim Jr's Fitness A Major Boost For Pakistan?

Pakistan's fast-bowling department has had some evident struggles in taking wickets of late. While Shaheen Afridi is no longer a lethal new-ball bowler, Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali have blown hot and cold in the shortest format.

Naseem Shah has been vanished from the T20I setup following a prolonged lean patch from the format. In such a scenario, Mohammad Wasim Jr's fitness update comes as a massive relief for the Men in Green, who aim to put up a spirited performance in the Asia Cup.
