Big Boost For Pakistan On Champions Trophy 2025! PM Shehbaz Sharif Extends Support To PCB

Amid the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 saga, the PCB has got a new supporter in the form of Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif. The Prime Minister held a meeting with PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and backed his stance on the prestigious fifty-over tournament.

At present, a decision is yet to be made on the hosting right of Champions Trophy 2025, but reports suggest that the ICC and PCB have agreed to BCCI's demand to have a hybrid model. However, the PCB too put forward a few demands, such as an equal playing field and adopting a hybrid model for Pakistan for future events to be hosted by India.

Pakistan PM Shows Support To Naqvi

The BCCI is yet to respond to these demands, but meanwhile, PM Shehbaz Sharif is happy with Naqvi's planning. "Your stance on the Champions Trophy is the voice of every Pakistani. Pakistan’s honor comes first, and everything else follows," said PM Shehbaz in the meeting wit Naqvi.

Meanwhile, Naqvi too assured the Pakistan PM of not bowing down to BCCI and ICC. "The PCB is fully prepared to host the Champions Trophy tournament in Pakistan," responded Naqvi.

Suspence Over Champions Trophy 2025 Continues

After repeated delays, the ICC scheduled a meeting for December 7, 2024, was postponed again due to the BCCI’s silence. The latest reports are that the PCB has demanded a written guarantee from the ICC to ensure the hybrid hosting model is implemented without issues even in the future. 

There is a delay in the release of schedule of Champions Trophy due to logistic issues. It is to be seen when will ICC release the fixtures for prestigious event.
