Big Blow To SL; Dilshan Madushanka Ruled Out Of IND ODIs After Matheesha Pathirana

Sri Lanka have been marred with injuries in recent times, and now after Matheesha Pathirana, Dilshan Madushanka has also been ruled out of the ODI series against India. Eshan Malinga has replaced him in the squad, and this is a big blow to Sri Lanka with their frontline pacers like Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Thushara also out of the series.

Earlier, Mohamed Shiraz was added as a cover for Matheesha Pathirana, but now it has been confirmed that Pathirana has also been completely ruled out along with Dilshan Madushanka. Shiraz recently picked a six-wicket haul in the List A match while Ehsan Malinga is also coming into the international arena on the back of a five-wicket haul. 

So, both the uncapped players are in-form bowlers but Sri Lanka will surely miss the experience in the ODI series against a strong Indian unit. Along with these two, Kusal Janith, Pramod Madushan and Jeffrey Vandersay have been added as standbys in the Sri Lanka ODI squad.

New Beginning For Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka also have named a new captain Charith Asalanka for the ODI series, he is replacing Kusal Mendis who was the leader of the pack in the World Cup 2023 and Sri Lanka would be hoping that they end up winning matches in this series, something which they could no do in the recently completed T20I series.

The first ODI will begin on 2nd of August and all the three matches will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
