Ben Stokes, the England Test captain has slammed a journalist on X, who accused him of preferring The Hundred over County Championship.

Stokes, who was representing the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred, suffered from a hamstring injury during the game against the Manchester Originals and was taken off the field.

Eventually, the injury turned out to be a serious affair as the skipper was ruled out of the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka.

Stokes outsmarts journalist who accused him

Meanwhile, Scott Wilson, a journalist from UK, accused Stokes of ignoring the County Championship, while also labelling The Hundred as a 'circus.'

Stokes, then lost his temper and hit back at the journalist, taking a subtle dig at him.

For reference, the all-rounder skipper IPL 2024 and the T20 World Cup to fully regain his fitness for the English home season. As a result, he did play three Championship matches against Lancashire, Somerset and Worcestershire.

Although, he didn't score many runs, but he did manage to pick up 25 wickets.

As per reports, Stokes is now eyeing the Pakistan Test series as his potential return date. In his absence, Ollie Pope will be the captain for the Sri Lanka Tests.

The general recovery time for a hamstring injury is a month, but England won't take any chances, especially with the important Pakistan Tests coming up.
