Ishan Kishan, the Indian wicket-keeper was named amongst 61 players who were included in the Duleep Trophy 2024. This move sparked a debate that the Ajit Agarkar led selection panel are keeping a close eye on him, and he could make his India return soon.

The upcoming Duleep Trophy holds significant importance for the Bangladesh series. The players who perform well in the tournament are likely to get a chance to be a part of the India squad for the Bangladesh Tests.

Jay Shah's blunt message to Ishan Kishan on India selection

Ahead of the start of the competition, BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, has given a stern warning to Ishan Kishan.

“He will have to follow the rules. He will have to play domestic cricket," Shah said to TOI.

It has to be noted that Kishan has not featured for India since the T20I series against Australia in November 2023. He was a part of the South Africa tour, but he decided to come back mid-way, citing personal reasons.

Despite requests from BCCI, the talented keeper didn't turn up for the domestic competition, and as a result was removed from the central contract list.

The wicket-keeper is currently in action in the Buchi Babu Tournament, playing for Jharkhand. The left-handed batter slammed a century against Madhya Pradesh and has started strong in his quest to regain the place in the Indian side.
