On Monday, July 22, India's new head coach Gautam Gambhir addressed the press ahead of the important multi-format tour against Sri Lanka.

In his first interaction with media personnel as India's head coach, Gambhir did not shy away from tough questions and talked in detail about Virat Kohli, BCCI, Jay Shah, and also his support staff.

Notably, the Sri Lanka tour starts on July 27 and Gambhir's support staff is yet to be confirmed by the BCCI.

There were reports that the apex cricket board has approved his request to have Abhishek Nayar and Ryan Ten Doeschate by his side, but at the same time, the Roger Binny-led board has rejected his requests to have Morne Morkel as the bowling coach.

In the latest events, Gambhir cleared the air about his support staff and remarked that he is happy with BCCI and that the board will finalise his coaching staff after the Sri Lanka tour.

"Happy with BCCI, they have given me most things that I asked for. Will get to know exact support staff after Sri Lanka tour," said Gautam Gambhir.

Thus, it is likely that Gambhir might get his demands approved by Jay Shah, as currently, the BCCI secretary is also in Sri Lanka for the ICC annual meeting.

The latest news from the dressing room is that Sairaj Bahutule will join the team for Sri Lanka series as an interim bowling coach.
