BCCI eyes new sponsorship [Source: @Being_a_medico/X.com]
Following the premature termination of its sponsorship deal with Dream11, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is urgently seeking a new lead sponsor for the national teams, as per reports. The sports-tech giant exited its three-year contract early due to the recent passing of the Online Gaming Bill, leaving a void just before the Asia Cup 2025 and creating a race against time to print new team jerseys.
As per reports, The BCCI is now targeting a significantly upgraded three-year partnership for the 2025-28 cycle, valuing the new sponsorship rights at approximately Rs 452 crore. This ambitious figure reflects the board's confidence in the high commercial value of Indian cricket.
BCCI Sets New Financial Targets
An Economic Times report have confirmed that the board is looking to get a sponsor for 140 matches from 2025 to 2028. The sponsorship would be for both home and away bilateral matches, as well as multi-team tournaments organized by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The board has set specific financial targets, seeking Rs 3.5 crore per bilateral match and Rs 1.5 crore for ICC and ACC fixtures. This is more than what Dream11 was paying but less than the previous deal with Byju's.
As far as the upcoming Asia Cup is concerned, the BCCI is trying to have a shirt sponsor before the start of the continental tournament. However, due to the tight timeline, there is a possibility of a slight delay.
Rumours indicate that the Japanese origin automobile firm Toyota might shake their hands for a big deal. Notably, the board is confident of sealing a new entity before the Women's World Cup, which starts on September 30 of this year.
