A photo of emerging Mumbai Indians spinner Vignesh Puthur with superstar Virat Kohli has set social media ablaze after being posted to the youngster's Instagram. The image, taken during the recent IPL 2025 season, shows the duo in their respective franchise kits, capturing a memorable moment for the 24-year-old cricketer.

Hailing from Malappuram, Kerala, Puthur's journey to the IPL is notable as he made his debut for the Mumbai-based franchise before even playing senior-level cricket for his home state.

Puthur's Latest Post With Kohli Sparks Buzz

In his recent Instagram post, considerably many days after the IPL concluded, Puthur posted a picture of himself alongside Virat Kohli with the caption, “In the presence of greatness 👑" The post, added on his profile almost 18 hours ago, went viral and already garnered 194K likes at the time of writing.

Notably, during the IPL 2025 season, almost four months ago, Puthur also shared a picture of MS Dhoni beside him on his Instagram photo while explaining his gratefulness to get such an opportunity to meet the legend.

Puthur also shared an image of himself alongside MI star Rohit Sharma with the caption, "RS," back in the month of June, which also bagged 163K likes.

However, the latest picture with Kohli has collected a lot of buzz, given the MI-RCB rivalry and the 'greatness' tag Vignesh Puthur gave to the red and gold legend.

Puthur's Rise As MI Prodigy

Speaking of his origin and career, the left-arm wrist-spinner was discovered in the Kerala T20 League, where his performances for the Alleppey Ripples earned him a trial and ultimately a ₹30 lakh contract with Mumbai Indians at the mega auction. 

After tuning up with MI Cape Town in the SA20 as a net bowler, Puthur made his IPL debut against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Though his solitary over cost 10 runs and included a six from Kohli, he secured the valuable wicket of Devdutt Padikkal.
