The inaugural edition of the 2007 T20 World Cup was the turning point in MS Dhoni's career. He led India to their maiden T20 title win and rose to superstardom.

Not only MSD, but several other players also made a name for themselves in the tournament, and one of them being Joginder Sharma.

In the finals against arch-rivals, Pakistan, India made 157/5, courtesy, Gautam Gambhir, who scored a stellar 75 off 54 deliveries. In reply, Pakistan lost early wickets, but it was the brilliance of Misbah-ul-Haq which kept them alive in the contest.

He took apart Harbhajan Singh, India's best spinner at that time. Pakistan needed 13 off the last over, and this is when MS Dhoni rolled his dice and made a bold call by giving the over to Joginder Sharma.

He started with a wide, and then was taken apart with a six. However, an over-confident Misbah, went for a scoop shot and got a top-edge as Sreesanth took the catch at short-fine leg and won the title for India.

After several years of that victorious moment, Joginder Sharma took to his Instagram and shared a reel with a collection of photos with MS Dhoni, with a caption: “It was nice to meet @mahi7781 after a very long time. The fun of meeting you after almost 12 years was different today.”

Joginder Sharma, India's World Cup star serves as a DSP in the Haryana Police, a job he was given after India's World Cup triumph.

He announced his retirement from cricket on February 3, 2023.
