India once again proved their dominance in Asian cricket by defeating arch-rivals Pakistan to lift the Asia Cup 2025 trophy. The final was played on Sunday, September 28, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, where India clinched victory by 5 wickets to secure their record 9th Asia Cup title.

Batting first, Pakistan were bundled out for just 146 runs in 19.1 overs. Kuldeep Yadav was the standout bowler, grabbing four wickets for 30 runs. Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakaravarthy also played key roles, taking two wickets each and ensuring Pakistan never settled into the game.

Chasing 147, India had a shaky start as they lost Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shubman Gill cheaply, with only 20 runs on the board inside four overs. But Tilak Varma showed great maturity under pressure, anchoring the innings with a superb unbeaten 69 off 53 balls.

He found valuable support from Sanju Samson (24) and Shivam Dube (33), who played quick cameos to keep India ahead. Rinku Singh eventually hit the winning runs in the last over, sealing a memorable triumph for the Men in Blue.

Following the historic win, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a massive cash reward of ₹21 crore for the players and support staff. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia made the announcement after their arch-rivals.

“It was (an) extraordinary victory and therefore as a part of celebrations, BCCI has announced a cash award of ₹21 crore in favour of the players and the support staff who are part of the Indian team in the Asia Cup,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told PTI.

While the board did not reveal how the money will be split, Saikia said,

"That money will be distributed and this is a big reward for our team and the Indian cricket board as well as the people of India. We are extremely proud of our cricketers and the support staff for their superb performance in Dubai."

In addition to BCCI’s reward, India will also receive the official Asia Cup prize money of USD 300,000 (around ₹2.6 crore).
