The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has made slight adjustments to the scheduling of Bangladesh’s five-match youth ODI series against the visiting Afghanistan Under-19 team. While Bangladesh won the first match of the series at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra, the second game got entirely washed out at the same venue.
As per the updated schedule, the BCB has now revised the dates for the third and fourth matches of the series; with the fifth game slated to go ahead as planned on Sunday, November 9.
Rains enforce rescheduling of BAN vs AFG U19 series
The ongoing five-match youth ODI series between Under-19 teams of Bangladesh and Afghanistan has been heavily marred by rainfall so far. The first match of the series, won by Bangladesh with a five-wicket margin, was also halted after 46 overs in the second innings, allowing match officials to hand hosts a DLS win.
The second match at the same venue, the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra, was washed out entirely owing to rains on October 31.
Heavy rainfall, and discouraging weather forecasts for Rajshahi has now prompted the BCB to reschedule the third and fourth matches of the series. The third youth ODI will now be taking place on Wednesday, November 5; followed by the fourth match on Friday, November 7 at the Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.
The fifth match of the series will go ahead as planned, at the same Rajshahi venue albeit on Sunday, November 9. The action on each of the three aforementioned days will commence from 8:30 AM IST onwards.
It is worth noting that the ongoing series holds significant importance for both sides, serving as a crucial team-building and assessment platform ahead of the 2026 Men’s ICC Under-19 World Cup. With the marquee event scheduled to be co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia in a couple of months’ time, the contests offer an ideal opportunity for emerging talents from Bangladesh and Afghanistan to fine-tune their skills and gain valuable international exposure.
