The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken a commendable step by releasing Tk 1 crore in monetary aid and essential supplies to assist the flood-affected people of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh is reeling under a severe political crisis following the coup that forced former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to flee the country.

Large scale protests have been going on the streets of Dhaka and other cities, thus affecting the overall stability in the region.

To make matters worse, massive bouts of rain have left several areas of the country flooded. As per Chief Adviser's report, around 49,38,159 people from 587 unions have been affected by the natural tragedy, with 13 people also losing their lives to the deadly floods.

Hence, in the wake of such grievous conditions, Bangladesh cricket board has decided to help the people by donating Tk one crore to the Chief Adviser’s relief fund, announced board president Faruque Ahmed on Saturday.

Essential Supplies Also Provided To Needy People

Additionally, BCB will also send over 3000 food packets to needy people through the Bangladesh Army. The food sent will be dry as cooking facilities are unavailable in most regions.

"We are very sad about the current flood situation. It's a terrible situation right now. As like the old times, Bangladesh Cricket Board will stand beside the flood-affected people. Initially, we are sending some necessary items through the Bangladesh Army to some areas. We hope to send these by tomorrow," Faruque told the reporters.

Faruque Ahmed, who took over reigns from Nazmul Hassan recently, expressed solidarity with the people affected by this terrible calamity and vowed to provide necessary aid in the future as well.

That being said, the Bangladesh cricket team is currently on tour to Pakistan for a two-game Test series.
