The Chattogram Royals has fulfilled all its financial commitments ahead of the upcoming 2026 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), as confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). For BPL 2026, the tournament’s governing council had set a requirement for all competing franchises to submit 2 crores Tk (approximately INR 1.5 crores) and an additional 10 crores Tk (INR 7.3 crores) as bank guarantee.
It is worth noting that the Chattogram-based BPL franchise recently had its ownership transferred, prompting the team to be renamed to Chattogram Royals from Chattogram Kings.
BCB clears air surrounding Chattogram Royals’s rumored controversy
The BCB has issued an official statement, confirming that the Chattogram Royals franchise has paid the entire franchise fee in full to the BPL. Moreover, the board also confirmed that the franchise has submitted the stipulated bank guarantee through the “authenticated financial instruments”.
In light of the recent rumors regarding the board’s financial dispute with the Chattogram Royals franchise, BCB further urged all stakeholders to rely only on “confirmed information” while addressing “matters related to franchise compliance.”
The Chattogram franchise was recently acquired by Triangle Sports, and was rebranded to Chattogram Royals. Under the brand name of Chattogram Kings, the franchise reached the final of the BPL 2025 season earlier this year, only to lose out to Fortune Barishal in a nail-biting finish at the iconic Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
The Chattogram Royals franchise will now launch their BPL 2026 campaign with a match against Noakhali Express on December 26 later this month. The match will be hosted by the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium during the Sylhet leg of the competition.
For the 2026 edition, the Royals team is glittered with several star Bangladesh players like Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Tanvir Islam as well as international cricketers like Abrar Ahmed, Angelo Perera and Niroshan Dickwella.
