Australia women’s captain Alyssa Healy has never been one to take herself too seriously, even with a career stacked in numerous World Cup trophies and record performances. Occasionally, when she dips back into the memory lane, the legendary Australian cricketer rarely talks about her world titles but instead pulls out some of the most chaotic and light-hearted snapshots that remind everyone why she remains one of cricket’s most entertaining personalities on and off the field.

In a recent podcast, Alyssa Healy once again delved into that playful vault of memories, this time recalling an incident that occurred at The Gabba in Brisbane during which she claims to have received the “biggest standing ovation” of her life.

Alyssa Healy recalls an incident involving “Star Wars people”

While speaking on the Willow Talk podcast, Alyssa Healy recalled a hilarious undated incident, describing it as the “biggest standing ovation” of her life. The 35-year-old Australian women’s cricketer stated that when she was visiting the Gabba in Brisbane to watch her husband and Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc in action, she carried five to six beers with her to the stadium.

Laughingly narrating her struggles of juggling multiple beer bottles while finding a ticket, Healy said:

“I was up there watching Mitch (Mitchell Starc) and I carried five or six beers back to my seat. I had two in my mouth because I was trying to find my ticket. I walked back in and I had one in my mouth, and the security guard was like, do you need a hand? I was like “No I got this”. And I walked back in and the whole, I reckon it was where the Star Wars people were sitting, stood up and applauded me as I sat back down.”

While Alyssa Healy did not reveal the time of this occurrence, she was likely referring to Australia’s recent second Test of the 2025-26 Ashes series against England in Brisbane. Mitchell Starc won the ‘Player of the Match’ award at the venue for picking up eight wickets in the match, including figures of 6-75 in the first English innings on Day 1.

Nonetheless, Alyssa Healy seemed far more amused by her accidental beer-balancing ovation than the cricket itself.

With three more Tests remaining in the 2025-26 Ashes and Mitchell Starc firing on all cylinders, one can expect the Australian women’s captain to have a few more off-field epics to narrate the next time she is on a podcast.
