The Bangladesh Cricket Board had a meeting on Monday where its board of directors approved a 35% salary hike for Bangladesh women cricketers along with higher daily allowances and tour fees under a revised pay structure.
BCB's media committee chairman Amzad Hossain declared that the daily allowance of women cricketers has been increased significantly, with the board approving the pay raise in the meeting.
Only 15 woman cricketers in the central contract
A total of 15 women cricketers were named in the central contract of Bangladesh Women's Cricket, and these players will receive the new salary in four different categories as listed below.
| Category | |
| A | 1,60,000 |
| B | 1,35,000 |
| C | 95,000 |
| D | 80,000 |
It is important to note that if any player is out of the national contract but still represents the national team, she will receive her salary as per the payment structure of Category D.
As per Amzad, all the players who are in the Bangladesh Women's Cricket contract are set to receive a 35% raise in salary.
"The daily allowance of the woman cricketers has increased to 75 dollar from 50 dollar while the tour fee is also increased to 50 dollar from 25 dollar. The board has approved it in their meeting. Those, who are in our contract, they will get a 35 percent raise in their salary," Amzad told reporters.
Captain, deputy to receive additional pay
Besides the salary hike, the meeting also decided that the national team captain will get 30,000 Tk, while the vice-captain will receive 20,000 Tk extra above their salary per month.
This is a significant development for the Bangladesh men and women cricketers since BCB is considering a revised structure to generate more interest in the cricket-playing profession.
Following this move, BCB also increased the number of players to 35 from 30 in their women's national contract, which also mirrors the first-class players' contract for male cricketers.
