Bangladesh is ready to host Ireland for a two-match Test and three-match T20I series in November, which will also be their last assignment of the year. However, just ahead of the T20I tour, which starts on November 27, Bangladesh has suffered a big blow from fast bowler Shoriful Islam and wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan.

Both these players have sustained injuries during Friday's T20I match against West Indies in Chattogram. The key players picked up injuries and are expected to recover in time, with just a 23-day window before their next assignment against Ireland.

Team physio gives major injury update

Team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan informed that Nurul Hasan twisted his right ankle while fielding, while Shoriful Islam suffered a right hamstring strain during the match.

Speaking to The Daily Star on Monday, Bayjedul confirmed that though there are no fractures in Nurul Hasan's ankle, he might need at least three weeks to recover from his injury.

"Sohan (Nurul) may need around three weeks, while Shoriful could take two to three," Bayjedul confirmed.

Shoriful is expected to start his rehab on Thursday, while Nurul Hasan has already begun his rehabilitation. Now, with the players having a limited window for their recovery, Bangladesh might have to search for suitable options. Jaker Ali might find his place instead of Nurul, while Mustafizur Rahman could be utilised for Shoriful's absence.

Ireland ready to take on Bangladesh challenge

Though Ireland has already announced their 15-member squad led by Paul Stirling, Bangladesh is yet to declare their squad. As of now, the squad of the visitors looks balanced with many experienced faces and only a few new talents ready to tackle the hosts on their home soil.

The 1st T20I between Ireland and Bangladesh will be played on November 27 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, with the concluding third T20I scheduled for December 3.
