Bundesliga behemoths, Bayern Munich have identified Indian stalwart Virat Kohli as the cross-sport counterpart of their iconic captain and goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer. Kohli, celebrated as one of the most eminent figures in global sports, ranks as the third most-followed athlete on Instagram, trailing only behind football legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Kohli and Neuer hailed as cross-sport equivalents by Bayern Munich

The comparison was drawn by Bayern Munich in response to a fan's question on Twitter. The fan had posed a curious inquiry, asking for the identification of two athletes from different sports who could be seen as equivalents. Bayern Munich's answer was as fascinating as it was flattering, pairing Virat Kohli with Manuel Neuer and accentuating their response with the goat emoji, which means "greatest of all time."

Meanwhile, Kohli, whose accolades on the cricket field have made him a household name, recently stepped into a new chapter of his life by welcoming his second child, a boy, who the couple named 'Akaay'.

The cricket maestro, known for his formidable batting and aggressive playing style, had initially been part of India's squad for the first two Tests against England. However, prioritizing family time, Kohli opted out of the series just before it commenced.

Despite his absence from the field, Kohli remained engaged with the sport, lauding his team's 3-1 series win over England.

The veteran batter, who has been away from the game for quite some time now, will be expected to return during the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) where he will aim to guide Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to their first ever IPL title.
