Bas de Leede reprimanded for breaching ICC Code of Conduct

In the latest development, Netherlands all-rounder Bas de Leede has been reprimanded for breaching Level 01 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second ODI against the visiting Pakistan team.

De Leede was found guilty of breaching Article 2.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and the support staff. The code relates to using obscene language during the on-field action.

The charges were levied by on-field officials Michael Gough, Nitin Bathi, 3rd umpire Rizwan Akram and the fourth official Adriaan van den Dries.

The sanctions were proposed by match-referee Chris Broad, which De Leede duly accepted. As per the ICC Code of Conduct, a maximum penalty of a  50 percent match fee or one or two demerit points.

The incident which led to the sanction of the Bas de Leede took place during the 17th over of the Netherlands' innings in the recent 2nd ODI against Babar Azam's Pakistan side.

The batting all-rounder played the ball straight to the fielder and then proceeded to utter a few derogatory words, which were picked up through the stump mic by the commentators.

That said, De Leede was the leading scorer for the Dutch in the match. The right-hander scored a 120-ball 89 with the help of 2 fours and 3 sixes.
